Really very random.
I’m getting over a nasty little bug going around that a friend of mine described as making you feel as if you got punched in the gut. Personally, I think it felt more like I did way too many crunches at the gym and therefore I am hopeful that when I am finally at 100%, I am going to wake up to discover fabulous six-pack abs as a result.

A walk in a country field.
I went for a walk with Betty out in the country the other morning. She has a new puppy, Noodle that she thought I could practice taking photos of with my new camera.
Let there be light.
I didn’t mean to take a blog break, but it happened. I could push at least part of it off on the old ‘busy’ excuse, but the fact is, it’s been a hard couple of weeks here. Continue reading
It tasted good. And that’s what matters.
I had every intention of showing you photos of the cakes I baked for a party this past weekend, but in the latest episode of my camera drama, it seems the photos I took disappeared into the netherworld. Not one of the shots I took of the baking process Saturday night, the frosting process Sunday morning or the actual finished cakes Sunday afternoon is anywhere to be found on my camera or memory card. None. Clearly, my trusty old point & shoot is not as trusty as I though.

We went up to the farm this weekend, where Pat helped Ryan on a barn project Continue reading
Spring, finally.
When we left here a week ago Sunday, it was snowing. We drove south, seeing more snow, in the snow, for a few hours. Honestly, we were at the Tennessee state line before I stopped seeing little snow piles here & there – especially on the northern facing slopes of roofs. By the time we stopped to gas up & stretch outside of Gatlinburg, the sun was out, the temps were warmer and we were starting to see those little hints of green that signify the arrival of spring. Scenes from a holiday.
Figs!
Our neighbor Brian was out of town last week, during which the majority of figs on the tree in his front yard ripened. Not wanting to leave such goodness for those no-good squirrels, I helped myself. Then Brian came back earlier than expected and I felt bad I’d helped myself to his figs. To compensate, I thought I’d make him something with the figs. Because there is nothing more thoughtful than preparing baked treats for your neighbors with figs they grew and you helped yourself to. Continue reading
