Musings on knitting.

IMG_9017 (1024x683)Can we talk knitting? As an activity it’s rather rhythmic and soothing, easily portable and keeps one’s hands busy when they might be otherwise unoccupied.  I particularly like that I can spend an afternoon sitting watching the telly (sports, bad movies, old tv show marathons) and yet still have something productive to show for it. Adventures in Preserves and Pizza.

I recently cracked open a jar of that pickled eggplant.  As part of the ongoing series of canning classes I’ve been teaching, I’d been asked if I could please lead another pickling class because ‘pickling is fun’.  Indeed it is.  I knew I could still get eggplant, so I figured I should actually sample the pickles before making them again.  Served on some nice baguette with feta cheese and a drizzle of olive oil, pickled eggplant is a lovely antipasti. Other nuggets of happy this week? Continue reading

As the discussion of what & how to approach a project took place via Facebook posts, USPS delivery of handwritten notes, recipes & art projects to each others’ doorsteps, it occurred to me that this was our community project.  Despite the distance from Virginia to California, my friend G & I were making concrete connections as well as virtual ones without having to leave our homes.
