I ran into my friend Annie the other night who asked when was I going to start taking orders for pickles again. I told her I hadn’t thought much about it, but I suppose I should. And so, here as promised to Annie Friday night at Bang!, is the post in which I talk about the pickle subscription.
Have you had my pickles? For years I’ve heard I should sell them and last year I finally did. I know from running the Canning Program last fall all the regulations that oversee operations like this and I’ve decided to stay small potatoes as they say for at least another season. Which means, according to the law, I can sell up to a certain dollar amount out of my uninspected kitchen directly to consumers. This regulation also says I cannot sell said pickles over the internet, so I’m not offering any more details here. However, if you are interested in learning more about getting a few jars of Becky pickles for yourself this year, make sure I have your email address and I’ll be sharing the details in coming weeks with that mailing list.
I can say there will definitely be watermelon rind, bread and butter, okra, green bean and peach pickles again this year. I’m considering expanding to curried squash pickles and pickled eggplant as well (Suggestions are also welcome!). There may even be a few treats for subscribers this year too. Get on the list and see for yourself. Either leave me a comment here with your email, fill out the form on the pickle subscription page, facebook me or otherwise track me down with your pertinent contact information.
